Applications for the University of California GloCal Health Fellowship are now being accepted from scholars and researchers from developing countries. To help fellows advance to the next stage of their careers, the GloCal Health Fellowship offers career development activities, tools, and specialized one-on-one support.
The fellowship is a one-year post-residency training opportunity that emphasizes on skills and competence in working with underrepresented groups domestically and internationally in circumstances with limited resources.
The chosen candidates will suggest research in the social and behavioral sciences, public health, nursing, nutrition, and basic sciences.
The GloCal Health Fellowship offers aspiring global health researchers an excellent interdisciplinary education and training in cutting-edge research intended to improve health for populations around the world.
Researchers that are interested in studying diseases and conditions in underdeveloped countries can get help and supervision through the 12-month GloCal Health Fellowship program. The GloCal Health Fellowship Training Program is divided into four primary sections.
Research Project Design: A 12-month field study carried out in cooperation with one of our 21 recognized international cooperating partners
A thorough, multidisciplinary research experience under a mentor’s supervision
Education in global health: Classes taught in-person or online that cover topics related to global health;
Professional development is crucial for ensuring that fellows accomplish their short-term professional goals and go on to the next phase of their careers.

To be taken into account for the GloCal Health Fellowship, you must:
- Come from a qualifying country
- The citizen or resident of the United States
- Possess a basic science certificate and have finished a year of clinical training
- Have demonstrated interest in and dedication to a career in global health research.
- Find a mentor from one of the four consortium campuses if you attend a UC college.

The University of California GloCal Health Fellowship application date is November 1st, 2023. After the cutoff, the application portal closes immediately.

Scholarship Duration and Compensation
- The fellowship is for a calendar year.
- Stipend support will be provided to chosen candidates for a period of 12 months.
- A $15,000 fellowship research budget
- Costs associated with getting to and from the LMIC site
- Support for online classes
- For a week-long orientation on the National Institutes of Health campus in Washington, D.C.
