FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship

Overview of the FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship

The FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship program provides financial support and career development opportunities for women pursuing finance, financial mathematics, financial engineering, or financial technology degrees and designations.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Identify as female
  2. Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in finance, financial mathematics, financial engineering, financial technology, or a related field at an accredited university
  3. Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent)

Two (2) scholarships of $5,000 CAD each will be awarded annually. Recipients will also receive a paid internship at FINCAD’s head office and mentorship from senior leaders.

The application period is open annually from December 1 to February 15. Interested women should submit an online application which includes:

  • An essay (maximum 500 words) discussing their passion for finance and how the scholarship will support their academic and career goals.
  • An up-to-date resume
  • Undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial copies accepted)
  • Two letters of reference (at least one from a university professor)

Eligibility Requirements for the FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship

To be eligible for the FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Academic Status

Applicants must be either:

  1. Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in finance, mathematics, engineering, business, or a related field at an accredited college or university.
  2. Accepted into an undergraduate or graduate degree program in one of the fields listed above at an accredited college or university.

GPA Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.

Area of Study

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in finance, financial engineering, mathematics, engineering, business, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing degrees in quantitative finance and financial engineering.

Residency

There are no residency requirements for the FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship. Applicants of any nationality and residence are welcome to apply.

Additional Requirements

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must also submit:

  1. A completed scholarship application form.
  2. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  3. Two letters of recommendation from professors or academic advisors.
  4. A personal essay of 500 to 1,000 words describing their academic and career goals.

  • A headshot (optional)

How to Submit Your Application

  2. Visit FINCAD’s scholarship website and click “Apply Now” under the Women in Finance Scholarship to start your application
  3. Complete the online application which will ask for your biographical information, contact details, and details on your program of study
  4. Upload all required application materials
  5. Review and submit your application. Your application and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline of May 30.

If selected as a finalist, you may proceed to an interview with FINCAD. The scholarship recipient will be awarded $5,000 USD to be used for tuition and fees.
