Responsibilities of a Shift Engineer include:

  • Reply and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Talk with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Carry out preventive engineer maintenance on instruments and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, together with cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect instruments, equipment, or machines.
  • Carry tools (e.g., tools, radio).
  • Identify, find, and function all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
  • Maintain maintenance stock and requisition elements and supplies as needed.
  • Talk every day’s activities and issues that happen to the opposite shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
  • Show basic knowledge or capacity to acquire knowledge within the following categories:
    air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and end skills, kitchen tools, autos as well as energy conservation and/or common building.
  • Perform all floor preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim restore, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area.
  • Check, troubleshoot and carry out basic repair on all varieties of equipment, plumbing, electrical components together with lamps, cosmetic objects, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, web devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and different guestroom items.
  • Program TV”s and carry out common housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
