What is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program?
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot is a permanent residency route for qualified foreign workers and international graduates who wish to work and live in any of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program: Usage
This is an employer-led program designed to help Atlantic Canada employers recruit qualified candidates who could not be filled locally. The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is the fastest way to get her PR visa for Canada. Once a designated employer has found a candidate who meets the employment requirements and program criteria, that employer must first offer them a position. Employers do not have to go through the process of obtaining a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) under this program.

Employers who need to fill a position quickly can access temporary work permits to help applicants and their families arrive in Canada as soon as possible. In order to obtain this work permit, candidates will need:
- A valid job offer;
- A letter from the province; and
- A commitment to apply for permanent residence within 90 days of the temporary work permit application.
Pilot requirements
There are 3 programs in the pilot that employers can hire you through. You may qualify for more than 1 program, but you can only apply through 1.
For all 3 programs, you have to show proof that you meet the language, education and work experience requirements and that you have enough money to support you and your family when you come to Canada.
Atlantic International Graduate Program
In general, you must:
- Have a degree, diploma or other credential from a publicly funded institution in an Atlantic province
- Have lived in an Atlantic province for at least 16 months in the 2 years before getting your degree, diploma or credential
- Take a language test to show you can communicate in English or French
- Show you can support yourself and your family when you come to Canada
Work experience is not required for international graduates hired through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.
Atlantic High Skilled Program
In general, you should do the following:
- Have worked in a management, professional, or professional position for at least one year
- Have at least a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
- Take a language test to demonstrate that you can communicate in English or French
- Show yourself and your family when you come to Canada
- Employers must also meet certain requirements.
Atlantic Intermediate Proficiency Program
In general, you should do the following:
- Worked for at least one year in an occupation requiring college admissions and/or vocational training
- Have at least a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
- Take a language test to demonstrate that you can communicate in English or French
- Show that you can support yourself and your family when you come to Canada
- Employers must also meet certain requirements.
Stream of highly skilled workers
To qualify for this qualification, the applicant must have had her 12-month job offer from a designated employer for a position based on the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B. . In addition to the job posting, applicants for this stream must meet the following criteria:
- Work experience: At least her 12 months of qualified full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience.
- Education: Canadian high school diploma or foreign equivalent.
- Language skills: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 or higher on a test accredited in English or French.
- Proof of funds: Prove that you have enough money to support yourself and your family when you settle in Canada.
Advanced profession
To be eligible for this stream, applicants must have a job opening from their designated employer as a full-time employee under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A, B, or C. In addition to the job posting, applicants for this stream must meet the following criteria:
- Work experience: At least 12 months of her full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience at NOC Level 0, A, B, or C.
- Education: Canadian high school diploma or foreign equivalent.
- Language skills: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 or higher on a test accredited in English or French.
- Proof of funds: Prove that you have enough money to support yourself and your family when you settle in Canada.
